Since 1992, Karl has been making furniture, working hard at his craft saying that it is important that his work succeeds on a number of different levels such as having an aesthetic/artistic quality, being functional in combination with strength, and having technical merit.
He credits his wife as an essential part of the business saying, “she brings wonderful female perspective to things as well as playing devil's advocate - sometimes I am too close to the process so she'll come along and point out things I am not really aware of. She shows me furniture and art from Japan - bringing Japanese sensibilities to the design.” Stephanie Dawson
